DURING THE ’60s, cinema took on a much more international flavor with movies from England, France, Italy, and later, sex-based movies from Sweden. In the US, the two most appropriate genres for the era was the underground art film in New York, and the proliferation of exploitation genre films as ‘B’-movies for the ubiquitous drive-ins of the time.
The B-movies made use of rock & roll music, both in a silly manner and, by the end of the ’60s, in a more serious manner. Films that referenced LSD were also made, especially byAmerican International Pictures.
